Exhibit Install – Old Treasury

Installation of objects and Artworks for the “Streets of Melbourne” exhibit at the Old Treasury Building, Spring Street, Melbourne. This is the latest in a series of exhibits that I have installed at the Old Treasury. For this exhibit, I designed object supports, made plinths, applied vinyl text to walls and hung all the framed works. Two of the works are large original maps which could have no permanent support or attachments. The archive dept at the Public Records Office of Victoria provided small rare-earth magnets – so I made steel bars with welded-on cable attachments and hung these from the the system in the gallery – the top of the maps were attached to the bars with the magnets. Matching bars were also prepared for the base of the maps to hold them straight. The maps were then protected by acrylic sheets mounted on stand-offs directly on the wall.
