A pair of stools made to use the ends of some old wooden signs. The signs (about 20 years old) had been replaced and these were saved to use the graphic quality of the engraving in furniture.

The wood was cleaned and coated with linseed oil to refresh the surface, which had dried out and was covered in scale. Final finish with beeswax.

The frames are made from 30x30x3mm black steel angle – made to exactly fit the cut wood. The welds are ground smooth and the surface is rubbed with a sanding block and scourer – spray coated with a satin clear finish. The legs have triangular feet welded in, which have felt pads to proctect floors.
